answers1: One genealogy follows the line throgh Joseph, His legal /
adoptive / step father.
The other genealogy follows the line of Mary , who is Jesus' mother.
answers2: It's not all that easy to look up the significance of the
genealogies, if that's what you're asking. The gospels just lay them
out with no explanation.
One is in Luke and the other in Matthew. Scholars I've read believe
that the Luke genealogy is that of Mary. I won't go into why as it
would take too long. The Matthew genealogy is believed to be that of
Joseph. Jesus inherited physically through the line of David via Mary,
as she was His actual biological mother. Though Joseph was not His
biological father, Jesus would still have inherited the throne of
David through him as he was His legal father. Mary's line did not
qualify Him for the throne, as it skipped one king (don't remember who
just now) whom God had cursed, and proclaimed that this man would not
be an ancestor of the Messiah.
answers3: Lol, me either but I've seen it before.
answers4: The Genealogy of St. Joseph (Gospel of St. Matthew), and the
Genealogy of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Gospel of St. Luke). St. Matthew
was a Jew so he used the ancestral linage of Christ through His step
father. The biological linage of Christ came through His mother, of
course St. Luke was a Gentile not a Jew.
