answers1:By all the famous ones, I mean all the classics. I know about
Marquez, Allende, Borges, Cortazar. I'm looking for bestselling
contemporary authors, not Cien Anios de Soledad or Don Quijote. (sorry
for misspelling, english keyboard)
answers2:who are you talking about when you say all the famous
ones??well.. i would recommend Julio Cortazar, Mario Vargas Llosa (of
whom i haven't read anything but i've been told it's very good),
definitely Gabriel García Márquez, Alejo Carpentier it's also very
good, although his writing style, (he doesn't use punctuation
sometimes) can be a little hard to read, it's also very
interesting.well i hope none of these are de famous ones you are
talking about because i wouldn't be of much help.....Show more

answers6:Besides the usual suspects, some of my favorite Latin
American authors are: 1. Jose Carlos Somoza (Cuban, although grew up
in Spain), author of "Athenian Murders" -La caverna de las ideas-
which is excellent.2. Laura Restrepo (Colombian) author of "Delirium"
-Delirio- one of her best.3. Roberto Bolaño (Chilean), author of "The
Savage Detectives" -Los detectives salvajes- somewhat overhyped imho,
but still worth it.4. Rafael Bernal (Mexican), author of El complot
MongolNot really Latin American, but...5. Jose Saramago (Portuguese)
Nobel prize winner, so many good books, so little time...6. Gary
Jennings (North American, lived 12 yrs in Mexico), author of "Aztec"
-El azteca- amazing.Enjoy your reading!...Show more
