what would be the key to writing darker poetry?

Sena Highman: The darkest poetry is often the happiest. But shallow people don't understand that.

Donte Schoenhals: Dark moments or memories you have lived or experienced.

Carmelina Enoch: Listen to music which is of a darker tone and have a thought of what you want the poem to be about. Then decide what angle to write from.I've written dark poems before, I wrote one based on a character in a brilliant graphic novel series who commits suicide by jumping off a building after being gang-raped - there was much material to write about and I decided to write from an outsiders point of view and not her own.So...get an idea into your head of what you want the topic of the poem to be about. Then decide what angle to approach the topic from. Finally, listen to music! I tend to listen to either an instrumental piece or a slow song.http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=B_Sz_STo4-s&fe... This song for example would be inspirational for me to write a dark poem.Good luck....Sho! w more

Warren Kotter: Read up about the darker things in life. Rather than go there. Let someone take you there. Read someones dark thoughts and feel their pain and write about yours. Everyone is afraid and alone. Go sit in a grave yard for an hour. Read headstones imagine all that these people were and how they no longer are. They died by design, not by choice.

Percy Seiger: Use a #2 pencil instead of a #3. It's much darker.
