The doctor is charging for the whole procedure does this seem right?

answers 0:I was supposed to get my widsom teeth out on Monday of last week. The doctor was sick so they rescheduled for Tuesday. Then they called Tuesday to make an appointment because he was yet again sick. I was unable to do the procedure any day but Mon or Tues as I had finals and was graduating from college that week. I told the receptionist this yet she put me down for an appointment on Thursday. Come Thursday they called to confirm the appointment and I told them I never made it. The receptionist said I agreed to it and now they want to charge me the full amount ($900) without allowing me to reschedule to actually get the procedure done without being charged another $900. In turn, they are claiming because I missed the appoitment I need to pay the full amount of the! procedure yet not be allowed to get this down. I know that most places charge a fee for missing an appointment which would be fine but the whole entire procedure? Does this seem right? Would it be able to be fought as I never made the appointment yet being charged for not coming to it..thanks....Show moreanswers 1:That's crazy. Don't pay it and by all means find another dentist.answers 2:While many office do charge a nominal fee for a broken appointment, it seems unfair that they canceled your appointment twice then want to charge you for one.Call the office, ask to speak to either the doctor or the office manger. Explain that you do not feel that this is fair practice and that you never agreed to a Thursday appointment. If they continue to bill you for the missed appointment and also want to bill you for the treatment, then advise them that you will be contacting the dental society of which he/she is a member, (county, state, country) to file a complaint. If they tri! ed to take you to small claims court, they would not have a ca! se. Keep records of who you speak to and when, what was said, etc just in case.Ask your dentist for a referral to another oral surgeon and be sure to tell your general dentist of this experience. He will no longer refer to this office if he wishes to keep his patients happy.I am sorry you are going through this. It frustrates me when a dental office treats it's patients badly....answers 3:This definitely does not seem right. A cancellation fee, yes. A procedure fee with the lack of a procedure, no. Most places will have all their calls recorded for training purposes or other reasons. If this were me, I would demand that the call be pulled, if possible, for proof that you had agreed to the appointment. However, even just agreeing to the appointment by accident, a cancellation fee is the ONLY thing that should be charged. They can't charge you for the procedure if they don't even have a record of you "checking in". Record of the call and record of you never "checking in" ! will be proof. And the fact that this dentist, has already inconvenienced you with two rightfully scheduled appointments due to him/her being ill, would be absolutely infuriating. When it comes right down to it, you may need to contact a lawyer or an attorney if they insist on billing you for the procedure that never even happened. They cannot rightfully charge you for something that you never even received. Also, maybe their records are wrong. I would inform them that you are willing to pay, as long as they hold their end and follow through with the procedure when it is an appropriate time for you to undergo the process. You can only have all your wisdom teeth removed once. To charge you for two of the same procedure that is impossible, makes absolutely no sense. If they bill you for more than one procedure without actually following through with it, sue them. That's not right! Hope this advice helps and I wish you the best of luck with this situation....answers 4:I signed! something that said about a 72 hour notice...but they made the appoint! ment the day that would be 72 hours til Thursday..though I said there was no way I could..she basically told me the pain wouldnt be that bad so I should do it..I know for some appointments they charge $45 for non honored visits..answers 5:Run don't walk out of that office. The way they are treating you is totally unprofessional. If they tried to legally charge you, their case would be thrown out of court. A little secret is that even a flat charge for missing an appointment would in most states not be enforceable legally. It is put into dental offices in the hope of discouraging broken, no show appointments. And by the way 72 hours is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard of.answers 6:They are breaking laws. Threaten them with legal action if you continue to receive any notion that you owe money. If you did not agree to thursday, then tell the Dentist he may want to take it out on the receptionist.answers 7:i have never heard of a place that charges anything for you m! issing an appointment i didn't know you could be charged for something that didn't happen...take it to court he missed the original appointment not you and he missed the second appointment not you so im pretty sure you should end up paying nothing...besides did you sign anything saying that you had to pay a fee if you missed your appointment or did they inform you of this when you made the appointment? if not then you don't have to pay them anything...
