Tom Romer: Call your nearby fire department and ask them.......they give 'clinics' yearly to teach parents how to properly secure child car seats. However, I do believe a child's weight and height have something to do with the type of car seat they are allowed to sit in.......
Sook Hershkowitz: I'd keep her in the Britax for as long as the guidelines say she is safe there. I was VERY petite child and although I rode the school bus without one, I was in a booster in my moms car until I was like 11 (and this was early 90's when people were still less on the "safer" side). Just show your MIL the guidelines in the instruction manual and tell her that when your daughter no longer meets those THEN she will go into a booster. Why the Hell does she care anyway? Doesnt she want her grandbaby to be as safe as possible?...Show more
Lou Ravelo: Do what you think is right. It sounds like you're very caring, and you should keep your kid in her carseet for as long as you s! ee fit. (Just as long as it's appropriate i.e. no 11 yearolds in a carseat please)
Agustina Stimmel: Do whatever the instructions on your seat for safety say to do. Otherwise, you aren't being safe. I don't know what they are, since I haven't had a little one for awhile. Ignore your mother-in-law.
Stephnie Patout: I think you should keep her in the carseat as long as you can. Tell your MIL that you are very happy that safety has come such a long way since you were a kid and that since you are able, you are going to keep her as safe as possible for as long as you can - and why on earth would she argue with that? You stick to your guns. BUT...be prepared, when your daughter gets into school and sees that other kids are not in a car seat, she may balk. My daughter is six and very tall for her age, and still uses her booster seat - the full kind with the back even though her friends no longer do. We like it because it properly places her seat belt, and the l! ittle "wings" on the sides to protect her head give her a plac! e to lean when she is sleepy....Show more
